Cyndi, Our thoughts are with you. We know the kids from Cougar track, and it is so clear that Max was a great father (and you a wonderful mother) from meeting your children. I know the loss your family is going through is difficult, and I hope for your healing.

I met Max long ago when he started eating at my family's restaurant, the Barelas Coffee House. He always made time to talk with my mom, Benita. He was friendly with everyone who worked there...just a great guy. Max was a "regular" so that made him part of the Barelas family. I concidentally met Max my very first day I started at Modrall as a Paralegal back in August, 2005. Wow, seems just like yesterday for me. He welcomed me, of course, and needed to know who I was working for and I was touched because he was making sure I would be taken care of. Cyndi, Max and Isabella, you will continue to be my prayers everyday. Max will also be watching over you and smiling.

My word processing co-worker Luella would say, Max! Come back here! as she would have a question about his project, and Max would run out the door. I had the privilege of working with Max at Modrall, and it was never a dull moment working with him. Max was a good man and a good lawyer. Cyndi, your children, your family, may God keep all of you safe in his hands now.

Mike, Max, Earl and I all went to lunch at the Chama River Brewing Company.
We had all placed our orders and Max had asked the waiter what kind of sauces do you all have? The waiter replied" our chef made one of his own original recipe sauces last week, would you like to try it?" Max then asked, " Is it still good?" We couldn't help but laugh the look on the waiters face was that of confusion.....

We met Max in 2004 after Mike was horribly injured in a refinery explosion. Even in the short 8 years we have known Max, he and Mike became good buddies they would talk on the phone for what seemed hours. I used to say that they were 2 of a kind. They are both fighters and when backed into a corner look out!!!!!!!

Cyndi, Max, Bella, Max was a good man, He loved truly deeply and honestly and all 3 of you were the center of his world.

He will surly be missed

I met Max when I he was a Summer Associate and he was very handsome, very polite, and very smart and funny. There was no doubt that he would be back to work for Modrall.

I left for several years and when I went back, Max was still the same old Max, but had the reputation as a litigator that you definitely wanted to be on your side.

I met Max when I he was a Summer Associate and he was very handsome, very polite, and very smart and funny. There was no doubt that he would be back to work for Modrall.

I left for several years and when I went back, Max was still the same old Max, but had the reputation as a litigator that you definitely wanted to be on your side.

Max was one of the most kind, generous, and down to earth attorney's that I've known throughout the years. He loved his children and wife, VERY MUCH!! I remember sharing the Cliff's Amusement Park coupons with him and he wanted as many as he could get so that he could take his kids, and their friends too!

I know that we are all going to miss Max very much, but one thing is for sure.....Heaven is a lot brighter with Max there!
